Penis Anatomy

Our penis is just relatively small (to some) compared to our body but it’s a very complex system that requires harmony of the whole body especially with the nervous system. With the erection that comes and go, there must be a well oiled system inside our body that will make sure any external actions will be received well and there would be a proper reaction that will be exhibited by our penis.

Usually there are so many parts to a penis but it can be boiled down into small major parts. The main shaft is composed of two things veins. These veins are called the corpora cavernosa. Inside of these is the complex mechanism that accepts the blood from the body. Inside you’ll see that it’s composed of veins and it accepts a lot of blood. When it does, the penis goes into erection. It should be noted that since these are two separate entities, and it could happen that each of them will have different lengths. These two veins that somehow constitute a shaft communicate with each other. Most of the time they react almost together and the least that could happen is that it will be different in length up to one third.

The end of the penis is called the glans or the head. When an erection comes the natural reaction of this part of the penis is that it also becomes swollen. It also receives blood but the source is another part of the vein. The vein where the blood comes towards the head is the corpus spongiosum.

The corpus spongiosum is found on top and middle of the corpora cavernosa. This is where the blood towards the head of the head goes through.

When you follow the veins that compose the shaft of your penis, it will spread out and connect to your pelvic bone. But don’t think that under the skin is immediately the vein. Apparently the vein is also protected with another layer called the tunica albuginea. Around it the penis is again enclosed by a membrane. Somehow it works like a muscle and its main role is to keep the penis strong and stiff during the erection. Because of the hardness caused by a membrane, it’s possible that penis can penetrate.

Another important factor for erection is the nervous system. Without this your body will not react to external factors that will cause your penis to be erect. If the nervous system cuts off the communication with the lower parts of the body for example, a spinal column complication that ends up someone being paraplegic, unable to feel anything from the waist down.

The last but not the least is the scrotum. This is where the sperm comes from and if it’s properly united with the fertilized egg of a woman, a new life is born. The access of the scrotum towards the penis is through the prostate. When a person ejaculates, it comes through the vein called seminal vesicles and at the same time the prostate also gives out a liquid aimed to keep the sperm alive before it reaches the egg.

If you’re aware of the complexities of the sex organ, you’ll be able to understand why so many people nowadays are experiencing impotency. One small problem in any of the process, especially in the parts of the penis will eventually prevent the person in getting an erection. The sperm on the other hand may not be responsible for giving you an erection but if you’re looking to create life with your partner, you have to consider that the sperm should be preserved.
