Female Teens More Likely To Have Sex

The future of current teens can be suggested by the way they behave. Many continue their behavior until they reach adulthood.

This means that the bad practices they used to do when they were teens can suggest how they will end up as adults.

But recent study has suggested that the experience of teens is not the only indication on how they will behave as adults.

Parents and educators can also take note on the friendly relationship of their teens. The age and gender of their friends can suggest their sexual experience before they reach adulthood.

The study was conducted by the Ohio State University and the study was focused on adolescents aged 11 to 16 years old.

The age group were asked regarding their sexual, dating and friends. Based on the study, female students that have more female friends than men were most likely to have experience in adolescent sex.

On the other hand, students who have more male friends were least likely to have sex.

This result is actually a bit surprising for researchers since female students who have male friends don’t end up having sexual intimacy compared to female adolescents who have predominantly female friends.

The researchers also found a trend in students who have experienced sex at an early adolescent age.

Many of those who experienced sexual intimacy at an early age had parents aged below 26 years old. This means the students who were most likely engage in sexual intimacy at an early age had parents who have the same experience.

It’s a pattern that has disturbed researchers since the study tends to suggest that the adolescents, male or female, tend to emulate the actions of their parents when they were adolescents.

Parents, other adults and the community have the idea that sexual intimacy happens when the adolescent goes out on a date or experiences a fixed relationship. This presumption is actually logical since sexual intimacy happens when there is an intimate relationship between partners.

But the recent study tends to contradict the assumption. Male and female adolescents who have experienced sex at an early age didn’t have any relationships. This means the early adolescents who experienced sexual intimacy never went out on a date or were never “steady” with anyone.

Their experience in sexual intimacy were never based on dating or personal relationship with the opposite sex.

Based on the study of the kids aged 16 and below, those who had same sex friends with the same age are most likely to end up having sexual intimacy at an early age. Since their preteen behavior is almost the same and no one will be there to provide any ideas about sexual intimacy, teens will unlikely seek out sexual intimacy.

While the study should never be regarded as the general behavior of each preteen and adolescent, parents and educators have to watch out for these patterns. Early sexual intimacy is not just suggested on what they see online but they are also suggested by their friends.
